Early feudal architectural masterpiece of Kakheti, the Old Shuamta Monastery is located on the Gombori mountains in deciduous forest.
The Old Shuamta monastery includes 5th-century cobblestones basilica and two 7th century domed churches. The complex was abandoned later in the 16th century.
